About US

Established in 1992, Windjammer Balloons of York PA. is owned and operated by David and Eleanor Robinson. Our team consists of two commercial pilots, one private pilot, and 15 trained crew persons.

David took his first balloon ride in 1978 and became a crew person a few years later. He was crew chief for several pilots before deciding to become a pilot himself. As an FAA Certified Commercial Balloon Pilot, David has been involved in all aspects of the sport of ballooning from pleasure flights to advertising, sales, flight instruction, and safety seminars. Over the years, he has been involved with festivals in Binghamton and Wampsville, NY and Deland, FL. His memberships include the Balloon Federation of America (BFA), the John Wise Balloon Society, the Genesee Valley Balloon Association, and the Great Eastern Balloon Association. David had been the marketing director for a major window manufacturer previously.

Eleanor attended her first balloon festival in 1982. She, too, became a crew person a few years later. After crewing for 10 years, she decided to pursue her pilot’s license. She earned her private license in Fall 2000 and her commercial in Fall 2001. She has been a member of the BFA and the Central NY Balloon Club. She volunteered for almost 10 years as with the Coors Light Hot Air Balloon Festival in Syracuse, NY, and organized the 1995 Wampsville Balloon Festival.

Windjammer Balloons is proud to have been selected by Hershey Entertainment & Resorts to run its 'Halloween in Hershey Balloon Event' several years ago.

Windjammer Balloons has flown at festivals in Hershey, PA; Canandaigua, NY; Jamesville, NY; Readington, NJ; Preakness Balloon Fest in Baltimore, MD; Glens Falls, NY; Dansville, NY; Albion, NY; Perry, NY; Hazelton, PA; Lancaster, PA; Shawnee, PA; Deland, FL; Lexington, VA; and Indianola, IA.

Our Commitment to the Community
We believe that our ability to fly is a gift from God. Because of that, we believe in giving back to our community. We support the Junior League of Harrisburg, UCP Central PA, and the York area churches. We worked with an assisted living community to grant the dream of a terminally ill resident.
